I would like historical information about my Browning firearm. Where can I get this?

We can add a piece of history to your firearm.

For $39.95 + applicable state sales tax (Shipping included) one of the Browning staff will research your firearm and type a historical letter.

Historical Letters include:

  • Date of manufacture
  • Invoice number
  • Date of sale (the sale to where the gun was originally shipped).
  • A basic description of the firearm.

All letters come on official Browning Historic Letterhead which is authentically stamped and enclosed in a plastic protective cover.

These letters may offer one level of provenance for a gun in your collection — to the degree we can research the serial number and cross reference with factory and historic documents.

This service can be requested for very old historic Browning's or for recent Browning firearms when careful documentation is desired. In nearly all cases the serial number will be required to perform the historical research. If possible, when you call, be ready with the serial number and model name.

For more information and the final price with applicable state sales tax included please contact Browning Customer Service at 1-800-333-3288.

A sample version of the Browning historic letterhead is shown above right. Your letter will come using a reproduction of the letterhead used by John Moses Browning and his brothers in the early days of the company. For all of you not-so-old guys who mountain bike to get to the good hunting or fishing, look closely at the woman in the letterhead who is fishing in a dress and apparently biked to the river. To the right of her is a fellow who "mountain biked" to do some bird hunting. Everything old is new again.
