What are SHOT Show Specials?
SHOT Show Specials are unique products specially designed to be offered to dealers at the annual hunting and shooting industry trade show called the SHOT Show. SHOT stands for Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade show. They are not in the catalog and they are different from the catalog product -- sometimes substantially. These are often smaller runs of products with special features and configurations. It is often necessary to call several dealers before locating one of these due to their very limited distribution.
Distribution is Usually Limited.
"SHOT Show" actually stands for the name of the "Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show." The short name of the show is simply the SHOT Show. It is one of the biggest trade shows in the US and is certainly the largest gun & outdoor industry trade show in the world. Browning has offered SHOT Show Specials to dealers at the show for many, many years. SHOT Show Specials are created for many of the different Browning product lines including clothing, accessories, gun safe and accessories.
The most common and visible specials are Browning SHOT Show Special firearms. These products are offered to Browning dealers at the show. many of them are offered with a limited production available, even before they have been produced. Limited production allows us to make products that might have a more specialized/limited appeal to customers. And it allows us to make special, unique product runs that will only be made once, which increases the appeal to many of you since you will own something very few others own.
Some of the most unique products we make are SHOT Show Specials. Generally speaking, all SHOT Show specials will always be a bit harder to find and even quite elusive at times. Especially the firearms. But the unique configurations are some of the most collectible and functionally specialized of all time. On occasion, a SHOT Show Special is offered on a unique idea as a way of determining interest among customers like you. For this reason, some very popular versions eventually become in-line products that are offered for many years. SHOT Show Specials are a huge benefit to you because they make it possible for our team to offer a variety of very unique, specialized products that otherwise would never have an opportunity to be manufactured.
IMPORTANT: Are all SHOT Show Specials made? SHOT Show Specials are available to dealers for a very short window each year. During this time -- usually in January -- there are some specials that are hugely popular and that we will not be able to produce enough to meet the demand. On the other hand, most years there are a few products that simply do not get enough orders from dealers to make it practical for us to produce/manufacture them. For most products, our factories have minimum quantities that are possible/practical. We reserve the right to decide which products will go forward to production and which WILL NOT. These products may remain visible on the website for a period of time while we decide, and may remain for a time even though a decision has been made not to manufacture them. The most common example to illustrate this is with calibers. Some SHOT Show Special firearms receive enough orders to produce one or more calibers for the special model, while a few calibers receive so few orders that it will not be practical to produce them. These "never produced" calibers (for that model) are simply a fact of life when creating opportunities for you and your dealers. Sometimes a product is a hit and other times not so much. We appreciate your understanding. The best way to improve the likelihood of having a model/caliber that you like produced is to make sure your dealer orders one for you from Browning during the SHOT Show.
