Speed Load Plus — Semi-Auto Shotguns

Speed Loading is a legendary Browning shotgun feature. Speed Loading — and Unloading — are useful features on the A5 and Maxus II that maximize speed in the field.

Why Browning Speed Load Plus Matters

Browning has dominated fast reloading shotguns for decades. The Speed Load Plus system eliminates slow, manual cycling when loading and unloading your firearm in the field or at the range.

  • Instant Chambering: With the bolt locked open, the first shell inserted into an empty magazine will be automatically sent straight into the chamber.
  • Fast Unloading: After shooting is complete, traditional autoloaders force you to cycle the action repeatedly to empty the magazine. Browning Speed Load Plus lets you safely empty the magazine tube without chambering a round.
  • More Birds: Avid waterfowl and upland bird game hunters rely on this reliable system for intuitive reloading.

The History Behind the Innovation

While Speed Loading is synonymous with the iconic Browning Auto-5, John Moses Browning did not invent this feature. His son, Val Browning — an accomplished firearms designer in his own right — invented the system and secured the patent in 1952. Today, Browning carries this legacy forward in the A5 and Maxus II lineups.
