Browning Grows Citori 825 Line With New Sub-Gauge Models
Published on Janurary 22, 2026 by Browning Staff
In 2025, Browning dropped an over/under bomb with its introduction of the Citori 825. New, exciting, and featuring several improvements, the 825 replaced the iconic Citori 725. Not by accident, Browning’s Citori 825 bears resemblance to the 725, which is a good thing. The Citori 725 was a premier go-to over/under for more than a decade.
With the Citori 825, Browning didn’t craft an all-new over/under. Instead, they took the best features of the 725 series and crafted a model that’s even better. Citori 825 builds feature a slimmer top lever and redesigned forearm latch that is easier to use. Some models showcase an engraved receiver — others don’t — but all 825 receivers feature sharp, modern lines.
The redesigned receiver retained the lower profile shape that aids with recoil control and minimizes muzzle jump. When you can keep your cheek welded to your stock and your support hand extended on a shotgun’s forearm, you will swing through more targets and puff more clays and feathers.
The 825 also received a trigger change to the Fire Lite 2 Trigger. The new design allows for faster lockup, crisper break, and ensures zero creep. The trigger promises reduced pre-shot take-up, and the modified high-pivot-point disconnector optimizes reset to maximize every shooter's shot-to-shot consistency and improve reliability with light ammunition loads.
Browning is renowned for adding new models to existing lines, and that’s the case in 2026. As Browning did with its A5 line, this legendary gun maker adds sub-gauge offerings to its Citori 825 lineup.

Like its 12-gauge predecessor, the 825 Field Small Gauge features game scene engraving on the receiver, a Grade II/III American walnut stock with a palm swell, and a 50/50 POI.
