Browning Firearms 2009 -- An Overview.

Release Date: 2/11/2009

Time To Move Up To A Browning.

John M. Browning was destined to invent and market many of the world's most innovative firearms. This year, Browning continues the legacy of John M. Browning’s genius with more innovation and more new products.

For 2009, there are close to 275 specs of shotguns alone, nearly 350 different models of rifles and 28 different models of handguns in many variations and styles. We have catered to the sportsman's needs for well-made, reliable firearms for over 125 years. It's no wonder that Browning is a trusted name – known the world over for firearms that exceed your expectations and maintain the reputation of high quality, durability and exquisite handling --  firearms that can be used hard and handed down with pride.

MAXUS. First on the shotgun list in 2009 is the new Maxus. There has never been an autoloading shotgun like it. Early in 2008, several seasoned outdoor writers rigorously tested a few prototypes of this new gun in the field. Their articles are out, and response is universally positive. Here are just a few of the features and comparisons on this new Browning shotgun — just enough to whet your appetite.

The first thing you will notice is how light weight the Maxus is. The Maxus weighs in right close to 7 lbs. It shoulders nicely and fits well. You pick up the sighting plane very naturally. The next thing you notice is the absence of a magazine cap. We replaced it with the patent-pending Speed Lock Forearm. It’s a secure forearm attachment system that makes taking down the Maxus for cleaning or storage much faster and easier than any other shotgun. Attaching a sling is equally simple.

With the Maxus, recoil is less of a factor than ever. Several features combine to make it very soft on your shoulder. The Power Drive Gas System, Inflex Technology recoil pad, and Vector Pro back-boring all reduce recoil more than 18% over the closest competitor. The Maxus is very pleasant to shoot, regardless of loads.

CITORI. The timeless Browning Citori® shotgun gains more accolades every year. Introduced in 1971 -- and directly descended from the Original Browning Superposed --  the Citori maintains its quality reputation as the premier over and under shotgun in the world. Check out the new Citori 625 Feather in all popular gauges for 2009. This gun is richly adorned on both sides of the lightweight alloy receiver with fine engraving. In 28 gauge with a 26” barrel, the average weight is only 5 lbs. 9 oz. Every Citori model is a delight to shoot, carry and show.
