Last Minute Gift Ideas

Release Date: 12/22/2008

Merry Christmas from the Browning Product Managers

Last Minute Gifts -- What’s on the Christmas list for Browning product managers this year?

We caught most of our Browning product mangers around the building getting ready for the annual SHOT Show (coming up in early January) when we asked them to give us their ideas on Christmas favorites, especially a few ideas they think you can still find in stock at Browning dealers between now and Christmas.

Denny Wilcox, Browning Firearms Product Manager. “Naturally at Christmas you think about gifts for kids. One thing about giving a Browning rifle or shotgun as a gift is that it is a lifetime gift. You know it is probably going to be used for generations. So topping my list for a teenager would be rifles like the BL-22 and T-Bolt. The BPS is another gun that lasts practically forever, which makes it a great gift and I am pretty sure most dealers have one or two in stock. Nobody is ever disappointed with a BPS. With everything going on right now in the economy there are a lot of very good deals on BPSs and when you combine that with the $75 rebate on 3 ½” models your dollar goes a long way. There are simply a lot of good deals right now and this Christmas is probably the best time in years to get into a Browning sporting or trap gun. I could go on and on with ideas, for example, the Citori free knife and NRA membership offer and the Cynergy Club with its $500 in free gear both make it an unbelievably good time to make a Browning part of your Christmas. ”

Mark Francis, Browning Product Manager for Technical Clothing. “I have been working in Browning clothing for decades – so I have been able to see what is popular and when. One category that has always been at the top of Christmas gift ideas is Browning down clothing. As long as I remember, Browning goose down jackets have absolutely been “the” last minute gift idea. First, you can expect most Browning dealers to have them in stock right now, and second, on Christmas morning it is a gift that is always appreciated. These days we have more sizes and colors than ever. And it’s going to keep on giving for years. Many Browning enthusiasts still have their down Sortie jackets they wore 25 years ago. Add to all this that there are great deals right now everywhere, so it’s a great time to put a Browning Down Jacket under the tree for someone you love. And you can be sure they will have a warm feeling when they open their present – pun intended, of course.

Rob Platt, Browning Product Manager for hats. “For certain my products make the best last minute ideas you can buy between now and Christmas. Every hunter loves to get a Browning hat. Right now you should be able to find a Mossy Oak Break-up hat with the Browning Buckmark logo at just about any Browning dealer. They are priced perfectly for last minute giving and they are always appreciated. If you are looking for a non-camo hat you can’t go wrong with the popular Browning Dura-Wax cap. I know guys that have been wearing these for 15 to 20 years. It is probably time somebody gave them a new one. Again, you will find these at just about any Browning dealer. And a final bonus, they fit perfectly in those little gift bags, so you don’t even need to wrap it up.”

Rafe Nielsen, Browning Product Manager for Apparel and Shooting Accessories.  “I have a lot of great gift ideas in my product line. And many of them are perfect last minute ideas. But the slam dunk is the Browning Range Kit. This kit comes with Browning shooting glasses, a set of soft foam ear plugs and set of quality Browning hearing protectors. Each item is top Browning quality that you would expect. Any hunter or shooter would appreciate finding this kit under the tree. And the price makes it one of the best value gifts you can give. Another sure hit is a Browning rifle sling. Again, just about every Browning dealer has them and every hunter needs more than one.”

Dale Weathers, Browning Manager for Browning Gun Safes. “The gun lover in your life needs a place to securely store their firearms, and there is no better protection than a Browning ProSteel safe.  Many different sizes are available in different series which provide a security and fire protection level that meets their needs, and many of our dealers have a good assortment in inventory to choose from.  Visit a dealer before Christmas to find a safe, or give them a gift certificate and have them choose it after Christmas.  A safe gives its owner great peace of mind, so give the gift of Peace of Mind to that special someone this year.”

Diane Carver, Browning Product Manager for Knives and Lights. “This is an easy question for me. Browning knives are at just about every Browning dealer and they are always one of the best ideas in the world for a fun Christmas gift. You can pick about any knife and it will be appreciated by the person receiving it. For sure there are top picks that you can expect to find right now, before Christmas, like the Prism Series Knives. As I say in the catalog, “There is no reason to own a boring knife.” Prism Series Knives are colorful and convenient. Perfect in a pocket. Easy to keep sharp. And durable – just as you expect from Browning. As to Flashlights, all our LED lights are very popular and you can probably find them. But the perfect gifts are our compact Black Ice and Tactical Hunter lights. They are sooooo small and produce an amazing amount of light for little pocket flashlights. Everyone likes getting one of these – I know, because I will be giving plenty this year.”
