Quality Control Inspector

Browning, a leading manufacturer of sporting firearms, hunting accessories, apparel and other related products has an opening in their Browning Service and Distribution Center located in Arnold, MO.  The distribution center has an easy on easy off access off of I-55, and is a short 20 minute drive south of the St. Louis airport.

 The position is a Quality Control Inspector which will be responsible for conducting audits on incoming non-gun/gun products, will identify quality problems and will pursuit of corrective actions. This position will also be responsible for inspection of first article of new products.

 Some of the essential duties and responsibilities: 

 The right person for this position will need to be able to train on inspection procedures for non-gun/gun products, and ensure that they meet all of Browning's specifications. The candidate for this position will work with the receiving department, contact vendors to discuss problems, maintain files for specifications, inspections, product and history.  They may be required to visit vendor facilities either domestic or international.

 The right person for this position needs to have the ability to exercise discretion, judgment, and thought.  They must have the ability to apply skills and knowledge to different factual situations; gather and analyze facts, develop options and solutions, and/or create new ways of viewing situations or approaching issues.

 The right person will have the opportunity to interact with different groups of people during the course of a day, and will work in a teamwork environment, and work with a courteous and professional demeanor.

 The right person on occasion will have to work under stressful conditions; may also have to operate in unpredictable situations; work under deadlines, handle customer complaints or emergencies; take responsibility for the health and/or safety of others.

 Skills and Abilities include:

  •  High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  •  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  •  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  •  A basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

Database Administrator

The scenic beauty and serenity of the area creates an ideal workplace setting.

Job Duties

  • Proactively maintain production and test systems doing tasks such as: patch research, concurrent manager maintenance, cloning, code promotion, and system monitoring
  • Provide exceptional customer service at all levels
  • Strive for continuous personal and professional improvement through setting and meeting objectives
  • Collaborate with development team, help desk and users to address concerns with systems and applications
  • Work with vendor’s support organizations to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Plan and coordinate testing and implementation of upgrades and  patches
  • Record and analyze system statistics and make recommendations and adjustments as needed
  • Stay up to date with changes in the IT field
  • Wear multiple hats as a key member of a dynamic IT team
  • Work in partnership with domestic and international teams

Skills/Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in one of the following subject areas: Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • A strong working knowledge of UNIX (AIX), Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Oracle (4+ years), SQL Server and MySQL database administration experience
  • Knowledge of Oracle E-business suite administration
  • Night and weekend work to be performed as required. This position also requires evening and weekend on call work
  • Willingness to learn other technologies, take on responsibility beyond your job descriptionand undertake additional projects as required
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to research and solve complex issues independently
  • Highly organized, capable of multi-tasking
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interact well with all levels of staff and management
