Supply Chain/Logistics Manager

Browning, the legendary sporting firearms and outdoor products company, is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our team. This position is located at our Browning Service and Distribution Center in Arnold, Missouri (just 20 minutes from St. Louis) where the heart of “the distribution and service center of Browning” is located. This position reports to our General Manager.
This position oversees all supply chain and logistics operations for the distribution center coordinating efforts with the warehouse and inventory managers. The position will be responsible for overseeing the practices and procedures and creating an effective and efficient distribution of product. Short term responsibilities will be to oversee the integration of the new software system, the Manhattan Management for Open Systems (WMOS) with the new reorganization of the distribution center. Longer term oversight will extend as the transition becomes complete.
Essential Job Duties
• Operational support and management of distribution center including: inbound prioritization, inventory control and reconciliation, month/quarter end prioritization, coordination with suppliers and internal partners, expediting critical and time-sensitive shipments, etc.
• Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment, or frequency to ensure timely delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Create policies or procedures for logistics activities and best warehouse practices by improving efficiencies through continuous improvement practices.
• Plan or implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements.
• Initiate, lead and participate in cross-functional, cross-business initiatives.
• Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation, customer service logs, or training or safety records.
• Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation.
• Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements.
• Evaluate incoming shipments and existing inventory to develop strategy for best location areas.
• Take on a key role in the configuration and testing of our Warehouse Management System.
There are numerous skills needed to adapt to this position. Requirements may include the ability to organize and handle multiple projects, being able to reason out and find acceptable solutions to problems, and have the ability to carry out those decisions. Being able to communicate throughout the organization is an important skill which includes the ability to bring individuals together to reconcile differing opinions, persuading and understanding from other perspectives. Maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships over time is also a key element for this position.
Another important aspect of this position requires the ability to perform systems evaluations and analyze how the systems are working, and if system operations need adjustments/changes. Part of the analysis will include being able to determine how the changes would affect outcomes.
Experience in developing training and instructional methods/procedures is appropriate for this position.
Education and/or Experience
This position requires some life experiences in managing people, processes and transportation principles. Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality controls, costs and other techniques for maximizing the distribution of goods is important.
Reading, writing, speaking, English language skills and mathematics skills will be required. Having a good knowledge of laws, legal codes, agency rules and government regulations is necessary.
Position needs to have knowledge of general business practices including accounting strategic planning resource allocation, leadership skills, and coordination of people and resources.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or Supply Chain Management and/or a combination of education and experience of at least 5 to 7 years of experience in warehousing, supply chain management or logistics.
Experience in the Manhattan WMOS software or similar is a big plus. Any international logistics experience is also an added benefit.
