700 DOWN IS NATURE'S INSULATION
Natural goose down has the highest warmth-to-weight ratio of any insulation making it the proven winner when it comes to warmth. This specially selected down provides optimum loft and warmth with minimal weight. It is surrounded by high count, down-proof fabric to assure optimum loft and compactness. To maximize breathability, no coatings or laminations are added. Although designed as insulation layer garments, they are great when used alone as outerwear in cold, windy dry weather or layered under any Transition outer shell to give you maximum protection from the elements.
700 FILL POWER QUALITY EXPLAINED
The quality of down is measured by it's ability to fill space. One ounce of 700 Fill Power down will fill 700 cubic centimeters of space. In addition to using high quality down, our jackets are made using the best quality of material and construction.
Browning Down jackets use soft and supple fabrics that are tightly constructed to keep down on the inside of the jacket. Cheap knock-offs use coatings to contain the down fill; once these coating wear off, the down will migrate through the jacket material.
No shortcuts can be made with the pockets, zippers, or stitching - we take no shortcuts so that you end up with a jacket that will keep you warm for decades to come. If you like down clothing you will appreciate this detailed explanation by the Browning technical clothing product manager, Mark Francis.
Browning’s high-quality down offers the best warmth-to-weight ratio money can buy. It is versatile, easily worn alone or used in conjunction with the Browning X-Change System to add insulation to one of the many waterproof parkas or jackets found in these pages.
