1878 was the year John Moses Browning at age 23 designed a falling-block single shot rifle and the following year he was granted a patent for his design. This design was later purchased by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1883 and became the legendary Winchester Model 1885.

Browning has reintroduced a limited production run of this famed B78 rifle and is offering it in many modern sporting cartridges.
