Mechanical Design Engineer

 Browning, an industry leader in the Shooting and Hunting Outdoor industry is seeking a talented Design Engineer to grow and execute Browning/Winchester branded firearms for our Research and Development Division.  Browning is located in Mountain Green, Utah, and located just 40 miles NE of Salt Lake City.  Our headquarters is accessible from all areas of the Wasatch Front. SUMMARY

 Design Engineers design and develop new firearm products to Winchester firearm quality levels, to be manufactured by the most economical manufacturing processes available; they improve existing Browning/Winchester firearm products for function, safety and/or to reduce manufacturing costs.  The right candidate for this position needs to have a combination of innovation and creativity, but also have the ability to test, analyze, and use critical thinking skills to bring solid results to a finished product.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  1. Lead the design of new, high quality firearms, from concept to production, in accordance with company objectives.
  2.  Create or modify existing designs in 3D CAD, including individual components and assembly mechanisms; includes the definition and selection of appropriate material properties.
  3. Coordinate prototype fabrication, leading the initial assembly, testing and evaluation processes.  Identification, diagnosis and resolution of product design and process development issues.
  4. Work in cooperation with team members to select appropriate technologies and vendors, optimizing the designs for manufacturing.  Ensure the Technical Data Package (TDP) accurately defines all design aspects necessary for production; assist in product qualification and production launch.
  5. Management of project timelines and resources within established project parameters. Must be able to prioritize, multi-task and manage multiple ongoing projects.  Conduct product improvement projects to increase the quality and value of existing products. 
  6. Some domestic and international travel is required, including to various production facilities in Japan, Turkey, Portugal and Belgium.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering, (Mechanical preferred), from an accredited college or university; an advanced degree is a plus.

7-10 years’ experience in engineering design of mechanical consumer products with 2D and 3D CAD software (Creo preferred).

Working knowledge of common firearm types and their proper function and uses is required.

Excellent written and verbal communication and documentation of technical material is necessary, including the ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical reports and legal documents.

Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerances (ASME/ANSI Y14.5) is necessary.

Some knowledge or experience in the following areas is beneficial but not required:

  • Engineering testing and instrumentation including strain, load, and pressure measurements using the National Instruments LabVIEW software.
  • Setup and use of high speed video equipment.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a plus.
  • Manufacturing experience in relevant technologies is a plus.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Cash Applications Clerk

 There is a job opening in the Credit Department for a Cash Applications Clerk.  The right candidate for this position needs to have a good working knowledge of MS Office Suite or similar programs.  Being organized, flexible and having excellent written and oral communications are very important.

 In addition, the candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills which include acting professionally, pleasant and courteous when dealing with other individuals.  Some experience in reading and interpreting financial statements is a plus.

 SUMMARY:

This position receives and applies payment to specific invoices as indicated by the remitter in a timely manner through the use of a computer terminal. He/she is responsible to see that accounts receivable balances are correct and up-to-date.

 ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1.   Applies incoming cash to Browning dealer accounts to clear invoices.

2.   Ensure all cash batches accumulated during the month are accurately applied to dealer accounts before month end so statements can be processed on time.

3.   Serves as a backup in preparing lock box batches for entry and posting to dealer/non-dealer accounts.

4.   Make cash adjustments on non-dealer and dealer accounts to assist credit managers in reconciliation of accounts.

5.   Distribution of daily mail with in the credit department.

6.   Create debit memos on our A/R system for non-dealer accounts; where we have given a credit back to their credit card.

7.   Set up dealers in oracle system under direction of the National Credit Manager and create a permanent file for each.

8.   Assist with the employee store by cashiering, helping with inventory and other duties as necessary.

9.   At month-end create spread sheets from hand posting entries for Accounting to post from.

10.  Serve as a backup to cashier with balancing of store and kitchen tills and Morgan bank deposits.  Also assists collections manager with visa reports as necessary.

11.  Other duties as assigned.

 The right candidate must have a high school diploma, and a combination of some additional education/work experience of 6 months to 1 year.

Technical Support/Help Desk/Training Associate

Browning, the legendary sporting firearms and outdoor products company, is seeking a highly motivated Technical Support/Help Desk/Training Associate to join our IT team.   This position is located at our Browning Service and Distribution Center in Arnold, Missouri (just 20 minutes from St. Louis) where Browning and Winchester products are distributed. 

 Job Summary

 The person selected for this position is responsible for establishing relationships with business users to solve PC and technical equipment issues, provide technical support to Browning specific applications, such as Oracle ERP, WMS, Service Tracking and other possible systems utilized by the company. The right person will also help gather business requirements for new and changes to applications. In addition, he/she will create and deliver training instructions on business applications utilized by Browning, which includes creating clear step-by-step instructions and deliver the instructions in a verbal/electronic format as needed. He/she will develop and maintain Browning software applications which meet business needs, increase business productivity and ensure the accuracy of the business functions performed.  He/she will also aid in the testing of systems as needed.

 Technical Support Job Duties

Install, support, and maintain, personal computers, office equipment, network and  phone equipment related to the Browning Service and Distribution center.  Ensure equipment is in proper working order, apply latest software and operating system update and provide basic repair services on the equipment. Resolve these issues with basic repair skills or communication with internal/external sources to accomplish the repair.  Ensure the software licenses are kept accurate and up-to-date and anti-virus applications are maintained

 Perform basic network installation and management to support the business infrastructure. Perform basic network administration and troubleshooting of problems, which includes UNIX administration duties to create users/printers.

 Support/maintain all data backup systems on applications servers and stand-alone systems when necessary. Ensure on-site and off-site data backup integrity.

 Help Desk Job Duties

Research and formulate solutions to a wide variety of problems reported by Browning Employees.  This position requires the jobholder to be constantly aware of changes to computer systems or environments that may affect the users.  This includes hardware, application software, operating systems, and printing.

 Ensure prompt and accurate communication with Browning Employees  on all problems, changes and pertinent information regarding the computer system.

 Log and Maintain outstanding problems, requests for technical assistance, or requests for programming modifications as reported by users in a Help Desk database.  Follow up with users with resolutions to problems or changes.

 Produce documentation for Browning Business Processes performed in Browning systems, such as Oracle ERP, WMS and STS.

 Provide user training on Business Processes in Oracle ERP, WMS and STS applications.  Also provide training on corporate standard desk top software, such as Word, Excel and Outlook. 

 Assist in the evaluation and analysis of other business applications that are to be developed or purchased.

  Coordinate and/or perform testing of system patches, or system modifications prior to implementation on production systems.

 Have basic knowledge of the SQL language and have the ability to create simple reports or assist users with custom made reports.

 Qualifications

 An associate’s degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Customer Service Agent

  There is a job opening for a full-time Customer Service Agent.  (40 hours per week).

 This position requires the candidate to be very polite, dependable and self-motivated.  The qualified candidate must have excellent phone skills including the ability to “listen” to what the customer is saying.  Taking great care of the Browning and Winchester customers via phone calls and e-mail will be their top priority.  They will be performing duties that require a technical knowledge of Browning and Winchester products.  Hunting and shooting experience is a definite plus. The agent must have a great desire to learn as much as possible about Browning and Winchester through catalogs, product classes and sales meetings. The candidate will need to be flexible, open-minded and have a “team player” attitude. The candidate will be required to attend trade shows as needed and engage the customers in conversation about the Browning and Winchester products. Computer competency in MS Office Suite, and knowledge of Oracle is a definite plus.

  1. Provide technical support and customer service to consumers.
  2. Answer e-mail in a timely and efficient manner.

Outdoor Product Manager

 Browning is searching for an Outdoor Products Manager.  The new team member has a passion for outdoor/hunting apparel and finds satisfaction in leading and managing all aspects of their assigned product categories. This person will be responsible for working with the Vice President of the Outdoor Products Division to establish the vision, strategies, and product concepts for their lines. The focus of the PM is to meet the unique apparel needs of the Big Game, Upland Bird and Waterfowl hunting consumer in the industry.

 SUMMARY:

 As Product Manager, you will be part of a business unit and charged with an apparel product line contribution. This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new products for the company.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

 The essential duties of the Product Manager include:

 Build products from existing ideas, and help to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects.

  1. Possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality.
  2. Enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems, and find innovative solutions for the broader market.
  3. Be able to communicate with all areas of the company.
  4. Work with a developer, contracted designers, graphic designers, vendors, sales and marketing teams and factories to define product release requirements.
  5. Work with marketing communications to define the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits, and target customer.
  6. Serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities

Specify market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers.

Drive a solution set across development teams (primarily Development/Engineering, and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract, and positioning.

Develop and implement a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to execute.

Analyze potential partner relationships for the product.

  QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION: 

  1. Market Research and analysis skills.
  2. Advanced competency with MS Word, Excel, PLM software and PowerPoint used to prepare presentations and communicate findings at design reviews and sales meetings.
  3. Solid knowledge of line planning and product creation processes.
  4. Travel up to 20% of the time, which may include domestic and international.
  5. Bachelor (4-year) degree, in Marketing, Retail Management, or a related field.
  6. Minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant experience in product-related roles.
  7. (Required) Expert knowledge of the outdoor, performance, athletic and hunting markets.
  8. Must have advanced merchandising skills and thorough understanding of the product creation process.
  9. Leadership skills for this position includes:   the ability to take initiative; the ability to influence others and build relationships with internal and external clients; the ability to have a natural balance between analytical skills, and emotional intelligence skills; collaborate; enjoy a diverse environment; a strong business acumen and  financial background/knowledge.
