Import Specialist

We have an Import Specialist position available in our Browning Distribution & Service Center located in Arnold, Missouri.  Browning, a world leader in firearms and sporting goods, has a high reputation of being "The Best There Is."  The candidate we are seeking will be representing Browning with that same "high quality" image.

 Summary:  Responsible for importing products for Browning Arms Co

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 Responsible for importing products for Browning.

  1. Responsible for U.S. Customs clearance of all imports for Browning.
  2. Obtain binding rulings, country or origin rulings and classification rulings from U.S. Customs headquarters for product to be imported.
  3. Renew annually and maintain current BATF import permits for firearm product imported.  This requires coordination with R & D Dept, Parts Dept, and Firearms Product Managers to assure permits are filed with BATF before importation.
  4. Prepare all export documentation for weekly Canadian shipments.  This involves scheduling trucks and forwarding documents for Canadian Broker for pre-clearance at border.
  5. Daily administrative duties include filing and processing of freight bill.

Quality Engineer

 Browning, the legendary sporting firearms and outdoor products company, is seeking a highly motivated Quality Engineer to join our team.   This position is located at our Browning Service and Distribution Center in Arnold, Missouri (just 20 minutes from St. Louis) where the heart of “Quality for Browning” is located.  This position reports to our Worldwide Quality Director.

 Job Summary

The Quality Engineering position is critical as the “Browning legacy” is high quality first.  This position working in conjunction with the Browning Quality Team is responsible to create, manage, and protect standards, specifications and procedures for both the Browning and Winchester brand products.  Repeatability and reproducibility of the tasks performed are necessary to the credibility of the Quality Department and Browning.

 The ideal candidate for this position must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.  Building and managing positive relationships with others from within and outside of Browning is critical to the efficiency of the position.  Travel will be a normal part of the responsibilities (approximately 50 days per year).  The Quality Engineer would be expected to participate in product qualifications, factory audits, and meetings both domestic and international.

 The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, organized and a team player.  The person selected loves learning, and enjoys the outdoor industry.  The candidate should have a keen balance between creating excellent working relationships, but also be able to be respectfully firm, and have strict adherence to standards and procedures.  They must be very critically minded, consistent and reliable.

 Toughness, strength, and a general enthusiasm for firearms are important to offset the rigors of the required, regular and high volume shooting that include magnum caliber and gauge loads.

 Job Duties

 The primary responsibility is to technically measure and analyze Browning and Winchester consumer products, and communicate their findings in a consistent, statistical, and professional manner to the appropriate parties.

 Another responsibility is to troubleshoot problems that may be inherent in the design or probable in the manufacturing process.  In order to accomplish this task, the position must understand Browning and Winchester product lines and how each firearm operates.

 To summarize job duties:

 Troubleshoot abnormal firearm behavior.

  • Measure and analyze part to print conformance.
  • Participate in product audits.
  • Describe quality performance through statistics.
  • Participate in product qualification.
  • Required writing policy, procedures, and standards.
  • Manage and schedule daily product audits.
  • Resolve quality concerns with customers and suppliers.
  • Must be able to do extensive shooting, including large gauge and caliber firearms.


Office Skills include Microsoft Office, creating and managing agenda and timelines, and the ability to communicate and deliver presentations.

  • Statistical Proficiency:  DMAIC, process capability, gage R&R, control charts pareto analysis, & objective reporting.
  • Metrology ability:           CMM, caliper/micrometer, height gage, hardness testing.
  • Blueprint proficiency:   Nomenclature, linear dimensioning, GD&T, interaction and interference, tolerance stack up analysis.
  • Firearm competency:    Classification, action type/operation, safe handling, mechanical understanding, enthusiastic/passionate, troubleshooting.
  • Engineering documentation:    Work instruction, process/procedure/standard creation, engineering change requests and orders.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic design and tactical operation and maintenance; including support of associated host and application systems.  Excellent technical skills, proven attention to detail and proper safeguarding of production environments are essential to this position.

Job Duties

  • Coordinate data refresh operations.

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related
  • 5+ years experience with Linux/Unix system administration
  • Proficient with scripting languages such as korn shell, Perl and SQL
  • Enterprise backup software administration
  • SAN administration skills (including snapshots and replication)
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts, protocols and hardware.
  • Experience with enterprise grade archiving systems is a plus.
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to research and solve complex issues independently.
  • Effectively communicate technically complex information both verbally and in writing to all levels of staff.
