Job Summary

This position reports to the Vice President/Compliance Officer/Director of Legal Affairs for Browning.  The person in this position will need to be able to provide support to Browning by keeping abreast of legislation in order to comply with federal, state and local laws.  This position will also support legislative actions for products liability based litigation; and other civil matters in order to minimize Company exposure and will be responsible for contracts/contract proposals.  A combination of education, training and work experience from 7-10 years is required; and the person selected will need to become well versed quickly regarding Company and litigation procedures.  An ability to analyze facts, evidence and manage documents, depositions and other evidence in addition to performing basic legal research of case law and legislation related to firearms use/ manufacturing will be very important.

 The Essential Job Duties for this position are as follows:

  • Reviews and analyzes all Company contracts and negotiates terms.
  • Drafts contracts and agreements as needed by all Company departments.
  • Implements new procedures company-wide to comply with new or changed legislation.
  • Performs legal research of case law and legislation.
  • Responds to discovery propounded in products liability cases and other civil litigation matters including gathering information and documents responsive to discovery requests and responding to interrogatories and requests for admissions.
  • Interview company employees to ascertain information needed to vigorously defend lawsuits and claims.
  • Maintains and organizes litigation files and trademark files.
  • Summarizes trial testimony and depositions.
  • Coordinates information, documents and schedules with local counsel throughout the litigation process.
  • Administers usage and registration of all trademarks.
  • Participate as a team member in corporate-wide Compliance Audits.
  • Drafts and maintains Company minutes, by-laws, etc. and provide other Company administration responsibilities as necessary.
  • Researches regulations and works with local counsel to formulate company procedures.
  • Polices counterfeit products and takes necessary action to terminate sales including filing complaints and claims with companies and individuals selling products.
  • Some travel, including international destinations is required.
  • Must possess or qualify for a United States Passport and be a US Citizen.

 Qualifications include:

 Paralegal certification and seven to ten years Paralegal experience.  Experience in contracts, litigation and extensive research is also required.

 The ideal candidate for this position will need to be detail-focused and be able to quickly identify inconsistencies, mistakes, and can make detailed comparisons between similar sources.

 The ideal candidate needs to be able to prioritize tasks and manage the time needed for the position, and be able to seek/identify ways to improve processes/solve problems. 

 The ideal candidate needs to have the ability to interact and maintain client confidentiality, relate to individuals and groups, and be able to collaborate effectively.
