Browning and American Forests have recently worked together to introduce limited editions of five special knives and three unique firearms. Wood for these knife handles, firearm stock inlays and grip panels was harvested from ancient trees surrounding some of the most important historical sites in the United States.
The Alamo rifle is a Browning BL-22, selected to commemorate the sacrifice of those brave heroes who fought to the death at the Alamo in 1836. A 3-1/2" oval inlay in the right side of the buttstock is intricately etched with a drawing of the front of the Alamo in wood taken from a live oak tree that still stands today at this historic site in San Antonio, Texas.
The rifle also features a gold-plated trigger and silver nitride receiver, beautifully engraved on the left side with portraits of Col. William Travis, Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett. The right side of the receiver depicts the Texas flag, the front of the Alamo, crossed rifles, an oak tree and a "Remember The Alamo" banner. All of these engraved scenes are tastefully gold-enhanced, and the entire receiver is bordered with shaded fleur-de-lis scrollwork to further set off these magnificent scenes from a great moment in American history.
