3-Gun Nation Rumble on the Range Champion uses Browning’s A5 autoloader!

Release Date: 2/27/2014

Review of the article One Cop Vs. the World, covering the Browning A5 and 3-gun competition. Published in the online magazine American Warrior, an NRA publication. The original article is by Mark Chesnut, Editor of American Warrior.

ONE COP VS. THE WORLD.

When most of us think of the Browing A5 autoloader, we think of rainy mornings in a duck blind or punching some big Canadian geese out of the gray overcast. When Greg Jordan thinks of the A5, he thinks about winning a major 3-gun match, and in Las Vegas in January, in winning big.

“As a shooter, it’s very hard to simulate the stress of what we do in law enforcement. And 3-gun is about as stressful as it can get. It helps you know you can handle stress and handle your weapons under stress.”

The most recent issue of NRA American Warrior online magazine featured an impressive article on Jordan and his background, both as a world-class 3-gun competitor and as an officer and firearms instructor for the Harford County, Maryland Sheriff’s Department.

An 8-year veteran of working the mean streets behind a badge, Jordan feels 3-gun competition is a great training format for defensive firearm usage. “Competitive shooting helps by giving me a lot of confidence,” stated Jordan in the article. “As a shooter, it’s very hard to simulate the stress of what we do in law enforcement. And 3-gun is about as stressful as it can get. It helps you know you can handle stress and handle your weapons under stress.”

Today’s run and gun 3-gun matchs are a demanding test of a shooter’s speed and accuracy with pistol, rifle and shotgun. Jordan’s scattergun of choice for the Rumble was a heavily modified Browning A5 Stalker, kitted out for extreme competition with an extended magazine tube and a long-form fiber-optic front sight. As you can imagine, it is one slick-shooting shotgun setup.

Certainly it was slick enough to help Jordan take all the cookies during the nationally televised 3-Gun Nation Rumble on the Range contested in Las Vegas last month. Jordan waked way with a cool 50 grand in his pocket. No too bad for one night’s work with a shotgun many only think of as a duck-huntin’ gun.
