THE NEW A5 . . . THE HUMP IS BACK.

You may notice a family resemblance, but let’s get one thing straight, this ain’t your Grandpa’s Auto-5. In fact, the iconic humpback-shaped receiver is the only thing this new Browning autoloader shares with its legendary namesake. The all new Browning A5 is built to be the most reliable, fastest cycling, best performing and softest shooting recoil-operated (yes, recoil-operated) autoloader on the planet. KINEMATIC DRIVE™ SYSTEM In its simplest term, kinetic energy is the energy of motion. The new Browning A5 makes better use of kinetic energy with its powerful, short recoil-operated Kinematic Drive System. Kinematic Drive harnesses recoil energy and converts it into the mechanical motion needed to operate the action. This concept is tried and true, and now perfected by the company that broke ground first with autoloading shotguns. The beauty of Kinematic Drive is the simplicity of design for consistent, reliable function with any load and under the full extremes of weather, temperature, moisture and grime. We believe the new Kinematic Drive is so reliable that the A5 is the first ever autoloading shotgun to carry a 100,000-round or five-year guarantee. This gun is designed to work, come hell or high water. Operation is clean because gases are sent out the barrel and away from the action. There’s also extreme load versatility. The extensively tested Kinematic Drive offers reliable performance with virtually all loads down to 1 ounce field loads with no adjustments. The familiar humpback receiver profile melds seamlessly with the rib to extend your sight plane, aiding in natural sight alignment for quicker target acquisition.
INFLEX II TECHNOLOGY RECOIL PAD The new Inflex II Technology recoil pad is the next generation of the most recoil absorbing pad available. A softer new outer material provides even better recoil absorbing performance and is super slippery to prevent snagging on clothing when shouldering. Internal directional deflection construction guides the comb down and away from your cheek for greater shooting comfort and faster, more accurate follow-up shots.
VECTOR PRO™ LENGTHENED FORCING CONE & TOTAL BARREL DYNAMICS We were the first manufacturer to recognize the performance advantages of a back-bored barrel and to make it a standard feature on our shotguns. Now we have gone a step further with our Vector Pro lengthened forcing cone. Longer, tapered Vector Pro dimensions minimize shot deformation and maximize pattern uniformity, consistency and density. Back-boring increases bore diameter specifications and decreases friction between the shot cup and the bore to maximize shot pellet velocity and to reduce felt recoil. Reducing constriction from the forcing cone on the shot column results in fewer deformed pellets for more uniform patterns, and keeps more pellets in the central part of the pattern where they're needed to bag more upland birds, waterfowl and clay targets. Our back-bore specifications represent the ideal bore dimensions. A larger bore diameter can let gases slip by the shot cup, resulting in both reduced pellet velocity and blown patterns. A smaller bore diameter means the forcing cone can deform pellets, leading to flyers and poor ballistic performance.
TURNKEY MAGAZINE PLUS The patented TurnKey Magazine Plug is easily removed in seconds using a vehicle key, allowing the magazine plug to be removed in mere seconds.
SPEED LOAD PLUS. Speed Loading has been popular on Browning autoloaders for decades. Our patented feeding system sends the first shell loaded into the magazine directly into the chamber. Unloading is just as easy with the Speed Unload feature that makes emptying the magazine fast and easy, without having to cycle and chamber every shell with the bolt handle.
STEEL SHOT PERFORMANCE The strength of a Browning barrel is legendary, and is built to handle the punishment of steel shot. Unlike some manufacturers’ barrels whose guns face an uncertain future after shooting steel, we have long been at the forefront of dependable steel shot performance and durability. Our barrels meet the strictest material and construction quality standards. The barrel blanks are made from rolled and tempered steel bars and are stress relieved to offer exceptional mechanical properties. The barrel blanks are then precision drilled, reamed and honed to exacting specifications. With proper care, a Browning A5 barrel will last a lifetime.

INVECTOR-DS™ CHOKE SYSTEM Better patterning, lighter weight and a sleeker barrel profile are all reasons to check out the new Invector-DS (Double Seal) interchangeable choke tube system. The combination of muzzle-end threads and thin-wall construction allowed us to design a longer, more gradually tapered choke tube that results in more evenly scaled patterns. From cylinder to extra full, patterns tighten consistently in reliable steps. The longer choke taper also produces extremely consistent, dense shot patterns. The flare at the end of the barrel that accommodates the choke tube is also greatly reduced for improved shotgun appearance; and a slightly lighter overall barrel weight is achieved for faster swinging and improved balance. Invector-DS choke tubes have been tested and proven to reduce shot deformation for fewer flyers and gaps in the pattern. The more gradual taper also allows higher shot velocities for hard hitting performance. To prevent gas and fouling from slipping between the barrel and choke tube we've added a proprietary differential-banded brass seal. This seal compresses against the barrel wall when tightened to keep the choke tube threads clean and make installation and removal easier than any other muzzle thread system.
