Browning Knives 2009

Release Date: 2/11/2009

A Browning Knife For Every Task.

Browning knife models are very diverse, giving you many choices. There is one for every indoor or outdoor task you can think of. They have made short work of skinning and dressing game and thousands of other jobs for over 38 years. They are reliable and strong while always looking good, and the Buckmark logo on each knife means you will be less likely to lose it, and have a handy tool that will stay sharp.

When you put a Browning knife in your pocket or hang one on your belt, you’re packing a few ounces of sharp confidence that you know is going to perform, hands down, over the competition. A Browning knife also makes a much-appreciated gift because it bears the most respected name in outdoor products and can be trusted to take care of a myriad of camp chores and duties around the home.

Take a minute to review the new models available for 2009.

Although it has been in the Browning line nearly a year, we must mention first the unique Crowell/Barker Competition knife. This 10” fixed blade is a joint effort between James Crowell and Reggie Barker, the only two men to have won an American Bladesmith Society (ABS) World Cutting Championship. This knife is approved for select International Cutting Competition Trail (ICCT) events, and is quite the conversation piece if you choose to display it.

Continuing with the Browning Legacy Knife Series is the Whitetail Legacy Limited Edition knife. It’s a fixed blade with Swedish Sandvik® 12C27 stainless steel and mesquite burl wood handles. It is displayed in a walnut presentation box with a lithograph painting of majestic whitetail deer, suitable for framing. It is limited to only 3,000 models.

Additionally, two other Whitetail Legacy knives are available, one in a folder with a 440C stainless blade and the other in a fixed blade with Swedish Sandvik® 12C27 stainless. Each knife has mesquite burl wood and a top-grain deluxe leather sheath.

The Hunting Traditions Series knives in either the Whitetail or Mallard issue would make an excellent gift. These are ilimited editions and are going fast.

The Escalade Series Fixed Blade Knives feature a Skinner with either brown box elder burl wood or Krayton rubber handles, or a Drop Point model with gray or brown box elder burl wood or the Krayton rubber handles.

Last year, we talked about the striking new folding lockback Scrimshaw knives featuring either a mallard, pheasant, turkey, whitetail deer, elk or mule deer. For 2009, a Scrimshaw Lab model is available, with a couple of Labrador dogs pictured on the handles. These knives have a laser-engraved Buckmark logo and are adorned with scrimshaw artwork.

The new Woodsman Bird and Trout knives fulfill a century old tradition of having a sharp, 3 ½” blade that is easily handled, enabling cuts in tight places. Get one with a Micarta® handle or select the Mossy Oak® Duck Blind® handle with a satin-finished blade for comfort and sure control.

Two new Big Game Micarta knives will be most welcome when the big bull goes down, with features like an extreme drop-point and big belly hollow round blades. This feature helps to eliminate the fatigue in hands and lower arms when skinning large game animals such as elk and moose. The guthook design funnels the skin into the cutting edge without bunching up the hide and will make field dressing large animals without puncturing the paunch, a breeze. Browning knives are specifically designed with the needs of the outdoorsman in mind. We have one, or several that are right for you.

The Backdraft Assisted Opening models have a manual locking system that locks the blade in the closed position with no danger of inadvertently releasing the assisted opening blade. They feature 6061 T6 aircraft grade anodized aluminum scales, which make them look and feel rock solid rugged.

The Prism Knives have been a smash hit with Browning fans, especially in gifts for the ladies. They are all folders with 420JI stainless steel drop point blades. Each anodized handle is a different color. Select pink, orange, blue, green or turquoise. These knives make fantastic gifts.

New Chinook knives are versatile, rugged and razor sharp. These two new models are designed to be clipped to a pocket or belt and always be at the ready. Handles are made from aluminum and titanium with electroplated steel bolster.

It is difficult to describe the new Extreme Mountain Hunters, so you must look them up on this website. They are designed to perform for extreme climates, from Alaskan tundra to New Mexico deserts. These are knives for the outdoorsman who likes to push himself and his gear to the limit. Each blade is tough Sandvik 23C327 stainless steel with a Rockwell hardness of 56c-69c and the edge-holding ability hunters demand. Take a look at the new Extreme Mountain Hunter. You’ll’ have to have one for your pack.

Browning takes great pride in our association with five of the most prestigious knifemakers in the country: Jerry Fisk, Bailey Bradshaw, John Fitch, Joseph Keeslar and James Crowell. We call these special knives the Mastersmith Collection, and you can own a magnificent knife designed by one of America’s premier knife designers.

If you know a knife collector, the classic Living History Series would make an excellent, much appreciated gift. This unique series features handles made from trees taken from historic grounds. Of special interest is the Robert E. Lee D-Guard Bowie model, the handle crafted from a black oak tree from the grounds of Lee’s former estate in Arlington, Virginia. It’s decorated with 13 gold stars forming the pattern of the Confederate flag. Only 1,807 of the Lee knife will be made, representing the year Lee was born.

To own a Browning knife means you value quality, precise fit, finish and pride. A Browning knife will be a tool you’ll be pleased to use again and again for years to come. Select the one model that is right for you. Any model becomes a prized gift to those who appreciate the name Browning and fine cutlery.
